RF - 2018 Progress Update

2018 Half Year &  Summer Progress Update

Hi Everyone

We have had an exciting first half of the year and we wanted to share some of the highlights with you this summer.

We began our year with an energising evening at the Norwegian Ambassador's residence back where young people from Renaissance Foundation reported back on their attendance and participation at The Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo Norway You can visit the full gallery of pictures here.

We are pleased to update you that Our Schools Programme supporting Year 8 '
Pupils at risk'
from Tower Hamlets came to a successful conclusion before the summer break. Highlights include visits and workshops at The Oxford Union Debating Society, University inspiration lectures on STEM subjects at Imperial College London and learning about careers in the UK's growing space technology sector from our workshops at The Royal Astronomical Society We where also pleased to have One of our programme's  Goals Setting workshops delivered by staff volunteers from  one of our supporting firms, PEN Partnership.

We have also welcomed a new cohort of young people onto our main 'i-Can Do It' programme, New groups who have joined include the following places,

  • Young carers from Hackney Young Carers Programme and also
    Camden &  Islington Young Carers
  • Young Hospital patients from UCL Hospital, Chelsea & Westminster hospital,

The young people have now started to join our main cohorts and are now accessing our services from our base at our youth hub space in shoreditch.

We have also had a strong motor racing and engineering theme this summer through meeting with recovering former British serviceman at the Invictus Games Racing team who gave moving talks about overcoming there mental health challenges to now becoming professional racing drivers, And our summer highlight to visit the F1 teams at Silverstone during the British Grand Prix weekend 🏎, Our young people where able to visit the Ferrari garages and hear from some of the F1 Drivers challenging career journeys with a highlight being Reigning F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton meeting our young people again sharing his inspirations with them.

We are also thrilled to announce a new partnership with the British Film Institute 🎥. The partnership was launched in May during the half-term holiday with an interactive film-making workshop, and will continue to develop this long term partnership with key BFI Training programmes, workshops and events among them opportunities for our young people to participate at the upcoming London Film Festival this autumn.

We have had many more hightlights then we could fit in to this quick update you can see more in the gallery above and also via our social media channels,

We are looking forward to continuing our programmes to support young people facing significant challenges if you would like to know in more detail about this groups please visit About us on our website,

We would like to say a special thank you to all of our friends and regular supporters - your donations and support make a massive difference in enabling us to continue our long term programme and to provide these unique inspirational experiences and to remain an ongoing support presence for our young people.
